-I hope y’all doing GREAT-

In today blog i’m goin to meditate about the importance of voting these days.

First thing i would like to attend is the definition of DEMOCRACY; In my own words, democracy is the form of government where the power to choice their representatives are in the hands of the people, thus preventing power from being concentrated in a certain portion of the population. NOW itself, democracy isn’t a synonymous of VOTE, the vote is more a tool for us to make work the benefit that the democratic system will grant us, which is to be able to participate in the bending of the path that our country would take in our nearest future, as well as in the furthest.

When i look backwards in time, to the Pinochet DICTATORSHIP, I can’t just even think in how much terror i would feel in a scenario like that. People disappearing in a blink of the eyes of their beloved ones. Losing their will to choose, losing the their free speech or even their right to express whatever their feels is correct or not.

I just can’t find how much i sorry for all the people who experienced such atrocity in their own shoes, and all those who have a family member or friend who may no longer are in their life or has been a victim of any form of unjust consequence that the dictatorship left them. I say all of this whit my utmost respect for all of them.

By now, times are changed -again- and we have the opportunity to make all the adjustments we deserve to our constitution, and finally maybe with good intentions and a lot of hope in the people, we can be part of something big, not just for us, but for all those who are not here with us anymore, and those who will be. And i think it’s thank to our vote that we been be able to bend the way that the politics are been working, and its still a long way to make our country a better and fairer place for all of us, and i strongly believe that if we continue to participate with our vote in upcoming elections and we are attentive to the changes and representatives we can have the "high ground” and for a good sake repair the errors that our public institutions made in past.

That all for me today, i hope this wasn’t so boring to read. Just to remind: All of this is nothing but my humble opinion, so let me know in the comment what you think is important about the vote.

That’s all. Goodbye and have a good day :)

  1. In relation to what you say, I wonder if we have really changed the way politics is done in our country through voting, and I think not, even after the social movement of October 2019 (which is responsible for the current constitutional process ). Unfortunately I believe that most of the political vices have been maintained over time, however, like you, I think it is important to vote to influence political-social decisions and thus not make the same mistakes of the past.

  2. I agree with you on how serious it is to lose the right to participate democratically in a society and not to be able to elect our representatives as it has happened to the generation that had to suffer terrible abuses during the military government.
Without a doubt voting is an important participation tool.
